Oakville Honda Car Show Sunday, July 23rd, 2006

Postby moistener on Jul 10th, '06, 20:07

I've reposted this in a more appropriate forum, please read.

In relation to getting more sponsors for the Honda/Acura field day and for the betterment of TAC, I have some great news for those who want to get involved.

Few months ago I noticed a flyer from Oakville Honda at their sister dealership (Acura of North Toronto) in regards to a Honda/Acura Car Show on Sunday, July 23rd. So I phoned in today and talked to Chris Thompson, who is the parts manager at the dealership, for further details. He said that this is their first car show, and that it'll take place during the day (10am onward). There will be some show cars, prizes, discounted Honda accessories, Magnaflow and Eibach representatives, and more. I told him about our club and the best part is that we can bring several of our vehicles down there to represent TAC, as we have many nice whips :). I think we should take advantage of this opportunity to represent our club, to network, and perhaps get more sponsors.

***EDIT: ANY Honda/Acura vehicles can show up. The car show will hold about 50 cars. A list of people has been started on the 2nd page of this thread. Once the ball gets rolling, I'll post an updated list here.

There is no entrance fee as this isn't your HIN, DK, or any other serious car show, but rather a more family event (as I'm sure they'll try to sell cars that day too).

Here is the online version of the flyer:

I'm getting sponsorship from Linda Lovelace to modify my airbags, and replace them with blow-up dolls

This is a good push to get a couple of more mods done. I wonder how busy Dan's Detailing will be the night before? :?

What time should we get there? Right from 10am?

Oh no doubt Freddy, it'd be a treat if you could make it.

zalllon, yeah I think we have to be there maybe even before 10am just to setup, do some final detailing, etc. I'll phone Chris in the next few days and maybe email him some pics of our rides and others so he'll know what to expect.

This is great. Went to Acura of North Toronto last week and all the cars on the showroom floor were visually modded. from a tsx on enkei 19 inch rims to a MDX on big dubs

If I get my new rims Ill show or at least see the rides.

My car is stock, can I come?

But seriously, who is determining who is to show or not?

Wouldn't modded RSX's, DC2s and S2Ks blow our doors off?

Im sure dealers would love to see modded car that are still available for purchase on their showrooms.

It gives potential customers the ability to seet what they can do with their new purchase.

That is true for 7th gens and other cars readily available as you say "on their showrooms", but what of older vehicles?

Okay guys, I talked to Chris again and here are more details:

-he has spots for 50 cars for the show
-any Honda/Acura models can show up
-first come first serve
-if more than 50 cars show up, they have an overfilled lot across the street but those cars won't be considered in the car show (prizes, import models, hunnies, playboy bunnies, etc.)
-I've reserved 15 spots initially but I can increase that by phoning him
-arrive before 10am

They have nobody reserving any spots yet and it seems that they're not advertising this event very well (I found this at an Acura dealership by chance). So he's assuming people will just show up :? .Regardless, it'd be great to have a TAC takeover :) and we can scope out what deals they have on accessories and other sponsor deals. Let me know if you have any questions.

So let's start a formal list:

While I agree that existing models will be most desireable for attendance, previous models should not be ruled out at all for two major reasons:
1) All dealerships have parts departments, so this is an opportunity to increase excitement for those customers that have an older vehicle that is in good condition, and in most cases, paid for. Customers with paid for vehicles are more likely to have the cash to customize, and they love to make "old" feel "new" again.
2) All dealerships sell used cars, so seeing older models displayed in an exciting way invites a customers curiousity to consider a vehicle that they may have on their lot.

If this is so, what's the whole point of this thread? It is a dealership that is throwing a car show, Klepto, there will be modded cars there. Since you've already made the point that you can't attend, that is all we really need from you, thanks.

I see this as an event for car enthusiasts, since Oakville Honda is not normally open to the public on Sundays. I don't anticipate any of the "general public" to show, maybe except for participants, sponsors and neighbours. Sounds like a good TAC gathering from all over the GTA. North and East meets West, IMO.

One thing they didn't mention though. Are there gonna be food and drinks served, like a BBQ or something? :D

Moistener, thanks for checking and organizing this.

I was mentioning car on their lots from the new to the used lot. I think shows like this get the attention of car owners who are done warranty and want a chance or just bought a car and want to do some mods

On a side note I know acura of n. toronto does modds so does this mean they install and warranty what they sell ie spring etc.
